How to install Obsidian i18n

Install with BRAT from GitHub, or extract the release ZIP manually into the correct plugin directory.

This documentation covers two installation paths:

• use BRAT to install from GitHub and follow repository updates
• download the release ZIP and extract it manually into the plugin directory

Naming

• Obsidian i18n is the product name used in the docs.
• I18N is the actual display name in Obsidian’s installed plugin list.

Obsidian i18n is desktop-only. It does not run on Obsidian Mobile for iOS or Android.

BRAT

BRAT installs the plugin from GitHub and can pull later updates from the repository.

1. Install BRAT

   Open Obsidian’s community plugin browser, search for Obsidian42 - BRAT, install it, and enable it.

2. Open BRAT settings

   Open the BRAT configuration panel.

3. Add the Obsidian i18n repository

   Click Add Beta plugin and paste:

   https://github.com/eondrcode/obsidian-i18n
   
4. Enable the plugin manually

   After BRAT finishes downloading, open the installed community plugin list, find I18N, and turn it on manually.

Manual install

1. Download the release ZIP

   Open the Releases page and download obsidian-i18n.zip.

2. Extract it into the plugin directory

   Locate the current vault’s .obsidian/plugins/ directory. The final structure must be:

   .obsidian/
   └── plugins/
       └── i18n/
           ├── main.js
           ├── manifest.json
           └── styles.css
   

   The folder name must be i18n because it matches the real plugin manifest.id.

3. Restart Obsidian

   Close and reopen Obsidian so it rescans the plugin directory.

4. Enable the plugin

   Find I18N in the installed plugin list and turn it on.
